Navi Mumbai: Learning science is fun and interesting when children have hands-on experience of conducting scientific experiments. This makes learning easy and instil a sense of curiosity in children.
In one such attempt, Henkel India, German-based leading industrial and consumer business company, at an event in Navi Mumbai, launched ‘Researchers’ World’ (Forscherwelt in German), an educational initiative designed to introduce children to the fascinating world of science.
Unlike the private schools, the municipal school lack the lab facilities to provide hands-on experience of science. Henkel India, through ‘Researcher’s World’ initiative have introduced mobile labs, where each student can expirement at their own desk. They get to learn the basics of science.
The program is for children between 8-12 years. Henkel India has tied up with the “Edrest” and train teachers in this modules. Teachers, trained how to use the mobile labs, will reach out to municipal school to educate and introduce science to children by giving them hands-on experience of conducting scientific experiments at their own desk.
At the launch children got to learn how glue is made, starch and its components, and other experiments on the surface area. So far ‘Researcher’s World’ program has been introduced in 90 countries across the world. This initiative has specific learning objectives to help children gain insights into the process of scientific enquiry.
Started as a pilot project in Navi Mumbai municipal schools now Henkel India has launched to take it across India.
Dr. Jürgen Morhard, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany and Dr. Ramaswami N, Commissioner, Navi Mumbai, Municipal Corporation were at the launch and witnessed the Researchers’ World experiments being conducted by children.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Shilip Kumar, President, Henkel India, said, “Through our latest CSR initiative, Researchers‘ World, we encourage children to be curious and to develop a spirit of discovery by enabling access.”
