Who is not obsessed with super –hero movies? If not obsessed, no one would have missed, at the least, the Spider-Man comic books and then the animation series, and later the Hollywood movie. The real hero behind it, Stan Lee, dies at 95.
Lee is the writer, editor and publisher of Marvel Comic. He is the man behind super hero characters such as Spider Man, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Thor, X-Men, Black Panther, Fantastic Four, Incredible Hulk, Daredevil and Ant-Man to name a few. He died early Monday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles according to Hollywood Reporter.com
Stanley Martin Lieber (Stan Lee) was born on December 28, 1922, in Manhattan, New York City. He attended DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx. In his youth, Lee enjoyed writing, and entertained dreams of one day writing the “Great American Novel”.
1939, Lee joined as an assistant in 1939 at the new Timely Comics, comic-book publisher Martin Goodman’s company. When he started, little did he know that he would be creating super heroes, who have become the backbone of Hollywood big budget movies.
Destroyer, debuted in Mystic Comics #6 in 1941, was the first original creation of Lee. Due to World War II, he put comics on hold and joined army. After he returned, he re-joined what would later become Marvel Comics in the 1950s. Since then he has worked in a variety of genres, comics then being a primary source of entertainment for children that included detective, romance, Westerns, horror and sci-fi stories. Disney bought Marvel Entertainment for $4 billion in 2009.
Lee was inducted into the comic book industry’s Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame in 1995. He received a National Medal of Arts in 2008.
