President Donald Trump acquitted in impeachment trial

On Wednesday, Senate voted in favour of the US President Donald Trump. Senate votes found Trump not guilty of the charges made by the House of Representatives.

He will be the third President in US history to go through impeachment trial and acquitted. Other two Presidents are: Andrew Johnson in 1868 and Bill Clinton in 1998, and Donald Trump in 2019. Johnson and Clinton were acquitted and not removed from office.

Trump was accused on two articles of impeachment – abuse of power and obstruction of United States Congress (Legislature). He was accused of manipulating the upcoming Presidential elections 2020. It was reported that Trump has coerced Ukraine and other foreign countries to provide damaging narratives of his rival Joe Biden. Joe Biden is primary presidential candidate from Democratic party.

He was be the first President in US history to run for re-election in November 2020, after going through impeachment trial.
