Recipes to ward of cough and cold with turmeric, pepper, cumin spices

Any aliments, we barge to kitchen to explore our spices counter and prepare a soothing concoction. Various spices such as clove, turmeric, dry ginger, pepper, cinnamon, cardamom etc., have immense benefits on our health. However, benefit of spices is not a new discovery, it has been a part and parcel of Indian Cuisine.

However, as we use these spices generously in everyday cooking, certain mixture of few spices cures common aliments such as cold, cough, sore throat, indigestion etc.

With environmental pollution and intake of junk food/packed food, there is no end for allergies and  viral infections. This holds good for children and adults. Here are few recipes for common ailments.

Golden Milk with Pepper for Cough:

Looks like this winter cold and cough has become inherently common. This concoction helps to subside cough and removes the phlegm.

Ingredients: Turmeric and Pepper

Boil water 1/2 a cup of water (small cup)

Add 1/4th teaspoon of Turmeric

Crush 2 peppercorn and add it

Add 1/4 cup of milk.

Let it boil for 5 -8 minutes.

Then filter it and drink at night before going to sleep. Do it for one month.

Curcumin can help fight inflammation and prevent type 2 diabetes. It helps fight off a variety of viruses and flu. Curcumin supplements eases PMS symptoms. A common spice for common ailment- Sore throat

Ingredient: Cumin seeds and water

Boil 3-4 glasses of water

Add 1/2 a spoon of cumin seeds

Let it boil for 5-8 minutes.

Keeps sipping this warm water throughout the day to reduce sore throat.

Start your day with a spice to beat – Indigestion

Ingredient: Cardamom

This is the easiest: Eat Cardamom empty stomach early morning for 2-4 days. It detoxes your body and helps indigestion.
