India won 69 medals highest-ever since 1951 at the 18th Asian Games. It is the second largest multi-sport event after Olympic Games. Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia hosted the 2018 Asian Games from August 18 to September 2, 2018.
When the Asian Games started in 1951, India had won 15 gold, 16 silver and 20 bronze. The last time they were close to that many gold medals were during 2010 Asian Games. India bagged 14 gold, 17 silver and 34 bronze totalling to 65 medals. During 2018 Asian Games India won 15 gold, 24 silver and 30 bronze totalling to 69 medals, which is the highest medal score since 1951.
eSports and canoe polo was contested as demonstration sports for the first time during the 2018 Asian Games. eSports is expected to be a medal event at the 2022 Asian Games.
